How It Works

Our dedicated team, including volunteers, works tirelessly to source, prepare, and serve hot meals on a weekly basis.

We provide outreach services by connecting people with services including, but not limited to: mental health and substance abuse services, ministry of employment and income assistance, BC housing applications, advocacy, nutrition, and health and wellness services.

01. Quality Nutrition

Our dedicated team, including volunteers, works tirelessly to prepare balanced and nourishing meals. We recognize the importance of quality nutrition in supporting the overall health and well-being of those we serve.

02. Community Collaboration

We collaborate with local businesses, farmers, and community partners to source fresh, locally-produced ingredients whenever possible. This not only enhances the nutritional value of our meals but also fosters a sense of community engagement and support.

03. Holistic Well-being

The Warm Meal Program at Safe Haven goes beyond providing sustenance. It creates a space for individuals to connect, share stories, and find a sense of belonging. We believe that a warm meal can contribute to the healing process and uplift the spirits of those facing the challenges of homelessness.

04. Expanding Meal Services

Safe Haven is committed to expanding our meal services to ensure a more comprehensive response to food insecurity. With the support of our community, we aspire to make warm, nutritious meals available every day of the week.

05. Nutritional Education

In addition to providing meals, we plan to implement nutritional education initiatives, empowering individuals to make informed choices about their diet and overall health.

Why Join Us

At Safe Haven we truly believe that no matter where life takes us, everyone deserves someone who can see the best in them, especially when it’s hard to see it in ourselves.

We all crave love, understanding, and a helping hand.

Could that someone be you?

WE EMBRACE DIVERSITY OF THOUGHT.

  • We believe that diversity of thought ensures that Safehaven is culturally competent, understanding the unique needs of diverse communities and providing more effective and inclusive services.

  • We acknowledge that different individuals may respond to interventions in unique ways. A diversity of thoughts helps in developing and implementing interventions that are tailored to the diverse needs and preferences of individuals.

WE LISTEN

  • We believe that involving individuals in the planning process empowers them to take an active role in their own recovery. It promotes a sense of autonomy and control over their destiny, fostering a more collaborative and respectful relationship.

  • Listening attentively to individual experiences validates their feelings and helps professionals better understand the context of their challenges.

  • Individuals often have insights into the underlying issues contributing to their mental health and addiction struggles.

  • By listening carefully, Safehaven gather important information that aids in identifying root causes and developing targeted interventions.

WE DON’T GIVE UP

  • At Safehaven, we believe that every life has intrinsic value, and everyone has the potential to contribute positively to society.

  • Refusing to give up on them reflects a commitment to recognizing and preserving the value of every individual. And as such, we affirm the importance of every person’s life and their potential impact on the world.

  • Persistence in supporting individuals with mental health and addictions can inspire hope. Witnessing others believe in them and offering continuous support can motivate individuals to persevere through their challenges.
